Trading Links – Is It Still An Effective Marketing Approach

This article has been viewed 53 times.

Backlinks can supply your website with authority and any Web marketer will tell you that. And in order to build up the quantity of backlinks many site owners would trade links with other sites. Now that so much has changed inside the search engines the question becomes, is it still worth all the difficulty? Here i will be speaking about trading links to see if it’s still worth it.

So basically a backlink is a link that points from one website to another site. The major search engines look at these types of links as a sort of vote for the site. So basically the more links you have pointing to your website the higher your site will rank in the major search engines. But one thing you ought to keep in mind is that every link that is made has a different benefit in the search engine eyes. For instance if you have a link on an Internet site that has a page rank of 4 and that website link is on the home page, it is really worth more than the same kind of link found on a different page of that site. Almost all of the value of the backlink comes from the page rank that the backlink is on instead of the home page, page rank.

When men and women trade links with other websites normally those other websites have a different web page on their site where they place the link for your website. So you’re not getting the same results from that link, that you would from the home page of that website. In addition these link Internet pages can end up with 100s or even 1000s of other links directed to other websites. Google doesn’t like to discover this sort of thing so obviously these links are not actually counted.

Google also gives more authority to one way backlinks than they offer to sites that trade backlinks. An one way link is when you have a link on some other Internet site but you don’t link back to that Internet site. When Google recognizes one way links they offer that link more strength than a link which has been exchanged. You may also hurt your rankings if you end up trading backlinks with Internet sites that have a bad reputation with Google. And that is not really what you are trying to do, but it could happen when you trade links.

The only time trading inbound links can provide advantages for you is when the page where your link is has a good page rank and a great deal of traffic. There is always the chance that Google will not even index a deep page which has loads of links on it, so if your link ends up there, it is worthless. The problem is that most sites that trade links actually have some sort of links page that doesn’t get indexed. In short you will find only a few ways to make link exchanging work to your benefit and it can be extremely time intensive to do them, however you can find different ways to create one way links.
